Are you lacking gift inspiration? You’re not alone, because we’ve all been there. Hopefully this post will stimulate the mind and when you’ve finished reading it you’ll have loads of ideas.
What do they like?
It might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised at how little thought goes into some presents. What are their interests? Do they like eating, drinking or maybe driving? Just use a bit of common sense. If you Auntie Liz is an environmentalist she’s not probably going to appreciate a patio heater, or a petrol chainsaw.
An Inside Joke
This is the perfect way to show you’ve thought long and hard about your recipients present. The only trouble is there’s no shortcut, and you really do have to rack your brains to think of something only the two of you will find funny. Get it right, and they’ll love it! Get it wrong, and they’re probably going to end up looking pretty confused.
Personalise It
This is another great way to show how much you care. If nothing else it will show that you haven’t just wrapped an unwanted present of your own that’s been sitting at the back of your cupboard for the last 2 years! Make sure it’s something they like though, as they’re not going to be able to return this one.
A Memory
Sorry, but this one requires some thought as well. Think of all the things you’ve done together- places you’ve gone, things you’ve seen. If you manage to stimulate sentimental feelings of an old memory then you’re definitely on to a winner. The great thing is that it doesn’t have to be expensive, and you could even make something yourself.
If you’re still stuck for ideas, and lacking confidence in your gift then it can still be saved. Just make sure you wrap it really well, and keep it a secret. People might say that they don’t like surprises, but generally it isn’t true.
Good luck, and happy wrapping!
